HORMONOTHERAPIE MENOPAUSE THERAPEUTIQUE
|
Résumé : |
The term menopause itself designates the definitive termination of the woman’s menstrual cycle due to a natural decline in reproductive hormones secretion. However, a woman is only diagnosed with menopause after twelve months of amenorrhea. In fact, the absence of menstruation must be observed over a long period of time to be considered relevant, due to the erratic rhythm of the menstrual cycle during the latter years of premenopause.
What is unusual about menopause is that even though life expectancy rose significantly in the last decades, the age at which menopause occurs has remained the same. In the United States, as well as in Europe, the average age for menopause is around 51, but it can usually take place anytime between 48 and 55. This average is a few years lower in undeveloped countries.
